history

Ihe Polyphonic Choir of san Pietro in Sala church (Milan) was established in October 1982 at the request of the parish priest don Enrico Casati. Master Luca Ricevuti was appointed Choirmaster; coming from the “Cappella Musicale del Duomo di Milano” and having graduated at the “Pontificio Istituto Ambrosiano di Musica Sacra”, he formely was a pupil of Masters Migliavacca, Ghiglione, Molfino, Bredolo, Agustoni.

Dfter an initial period dedicated to the vocal pitching and to the organisation and study of the first polyphonic chants, the Choir - whose main activity was the liturgical animation - performed its first concert in May 1985, on the occasion of the International Music Year, with pieces by Bach, Haendel and D. Scarlatti (musicians whose third centenary fell in that year).

uring the same period, on the occasion of the Holy Christmas celebrations, the choir performed in two Milan Churches offering a programme of Christmas mottettos. Since then, the Polyphonic Choir has been officially called “Jubilate Deo”, and it combines the traditional liturgical activity in its church of origin with concert performances in Milan and other North Italian towns.
